We grow Medjool and Zahidi dates on our family farm in Sky Valley, about an hour and a half east of Riverside. If you are buying dates for a restaurant, café, bakery or shop in the Inland Empire, you can buy them from the people who picked them rather than from a distributor.

What “premium” actually means on a date
It is not a regulated term, so here is what we mean by it, and what you should ask anyone else who uses it.
- Grade and count. Our jumbo Medjools run roughly 22 to 28 dates per pound. Smaller grades run 30 or more. If a seller will not tell you the count per pound, they are selling you a word.
- Current season. Dates store well, so last year’s crop can legitimately be sold as fresh after months in cold storage. Ask when it was picked. Ours are hand-harvested here and packed on the ranch.
- Whole and unpitted. The pit comes out with your fingers. Leaving it in means the fruit is handled less before it reaches you.
- Nothing added. No glucose syrup coating to fake plumpness, no sulfites, no added sugar. One ingredient.
- Hand-sorted. Grading is done by people who know what the fruit should look like, not by a machine downstream of three other handlers.
We are not certified organic and we do not describe ourselves as organic. We grow without pesticides, which is the narrower and accurate claim. Several certified farms operate in the Coachella Valley if that is a requirement for your business.

Who buys from us
- Restaurants and hotel kitchens — Medjool for desserts, cheese boards and bar programmes.
- Cafés and juice bars — date shakes, smoothies, energy balls.
- Bakeries — Zahidi holds its shape in a mixer where Medjool turns to paste.
- Caterers — grazing tables, wedding season, corporate events.
- Specialty grocers and gift shops — sell ours, or repack into your own branding.
- Wellness and fitness businesses — whole-food sweetener with no additives.
What we grow
Medjool — large, soft, caramel-sweet. Jumbo grade, 22 to 28 per pound.
Zahidi — golden, semi-dry, firmer and nuttier, and it keeps far longer. Very few farms sell it as whole fruit at wholesale. See our Zahidi vs Medjool comparison if you are choosing between them.
Barhi — seasonal and limited. Ask about availability or join the harvest waitlist.

Why buy from the grower
Most “premium” dates sold into the Inland Empire have been through a broker, a repacker or both. That is not dishonest, but it adds cost and time and it means nobody in the chain can tell you when the fruit came off the tree.
We hand-pollinate in spring, hand-harvest in late summer, and pack in a shed a couple of hundred yards from the palms. If you want to know how something was grown, ask the person who grew it — and if you are placing a standing order, drive out and see the grove.
Call (760) 501-1845 and tell us what you need, how much and how often. We will tell you honestly whether we can supply it.
