No Added Sugar, No Coating, One Ingredient

Our dates contain exactly one thing: dates. Nothing added, nothing sprayed on, no glucose syrup, no sulphites, no glaze. What comes off the palm is what goes in the container.

Let’s be straight about sugar

You will see dates marketed as “sugar-free.” They are not, and neither are ours. A Medjool is roughly 65–75% sugar by weight — a single large one carries about 16 grams. That sugar is the fruit’s own, concentrated as it dries on the tree, but it is still sugar and your body still treats it as such.

What is true is that nothing has been added. That distinction matters, because plenty of dried fruit on a supermarket shelf has been sweetened, oiled or syrup-dipped on the way to the bag.

What a date does carry

Per 100g of Medjool, roughly:

  • Fiber — about 7g, which is why dates don’t hit like candy
  • Potassium — around 15% of a day’s value, more per pound than bananas
  • Magnesium, copper, manganese — copper especially, at roughly 40%
  • No fat, no cholesterol, no sodium to speak of

The fiber is the reason a date behaves differently from a spoon of sugar. It slows absorption, which is also why dates are a traditional food for breaking a fast.

This is general nutrition information, not dietary or medical advice. If you are managing diabetes or another condition, talk to your doctor or dietitian about where dates fit.

What is not in ours

  • No added sugar or syrup
  • No preservatives or sulphites
  • No oil or glaze — some packers coat dates for shine
  • No pesticides — though we are not certified organic, and we won’t imply otherwise
  • Not genetically modified — and worth saying plainly: no date palm anywhere is. There is no GM date in commercial production, so “non-GMO dates” describes every date on earth, not a difference between brands
