The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is home to one of the largest and fastest-growing Muslim communities in America, with major concentrations in Plano, Richardson, Frisco, Allen, Irving, Arlington, and Carrollton. Texas now ranks among the top five U.S. states by Muslim population, and DFW alone is estimated to have well over 200,000 Muslims spanning Pakistani, Indian, Arab, Bangladeshi, Bosnian, Iranian, Turkish, Indonesian, West African, and African American communities. At Desert Sun Dates, we ship our hand-harvested California Medjool dates (tamr al-majhool, تمر المجهول) directly from our private date ranch to North Texas families for Iftar, Suhoor, and Eid celebrations.

North Texas’s Muslim community has been shaped by the technology, telecommunications, and finance industries that have drawn highly educated professionals to Plano, Richardson, Frisco, and Allen since the 1980s. The Islamic Association of North Texas (IANT) in Richardson — one of the oldest and largest mosques in the South — anchors the community alongside the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC), the Plano Masjid, the Islamic Center of Frisco, and dozens of others spanning the metroplex. Halal grocers, Pakistani restaurants, Arab bakeries, Turkish cafés, and Islamic schools are concentrated along the Coit Road, Independence Parkway, and Park Boulevard corridors in Plano.
For Pakistani and Indian Muslim families across Plano, Frisco, and Allen, Iftar tables feature samosas, pakoras, fruit chaat, biryani, and rooh afza — opened with dates and water. For Arab families across Richardson, Irving, and Carrollton, fattoush, kibbeh, and mahshi follow the dates. For Bosnian families, burek and baklava. For Bangladeshi families, iftari spreads. For African American Muslim families, traditional Southern fare with halal preparation. The date is the universal opener.

We deliver throughout Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Richardson, Frisco, Allen, McKinney, Irving, Arlington, Carrollton, Garland, Mesquite, Lewisville, Flower Mound, Coppell, Grapevine, Southlake, Keller, and the broader DFW metroplex. For Ramadan, we recommend ordering 1–2 weeks before the start of the month.
